WEDNESDAY 10/16/2024
Our crew of 11 left Saline, MI on Wednesday morning (10/16/24). We met at the A&H shop at 7:15am, hoping to head out by 7:30am. It was closer to 8 when we finally got on the road - there were a few final donations to pack, routes to confirm with all 4 drivers, final bathroom visits, and coffees to top off.
Bob was driving the semi that Bo Trout and his company, Bogie's Express, so kindly donated - along with their driver! Bob's wife, Jamie, was riding passenger in that gorgeous rig! In Tim's truck was Renee, Bradley, and Gunnar. Jim's truck had Kathy riding shotgun, & Keegan's truck had Kristy and Alex on board.
We got an A&H send-off from Brandon and a few of our awesome team members!

We came upon this police-escorted convoy delivering hay to WNC
By the time we finished dinner (awesome dinner, by the way, at Logan's Roadhouse!) and got to our hotel, it was a little after 10pm. We knew we had a long day ahead of us and needed to be leaving the hotel by 6:15am on Thursday to get started with our day of supply drop-offs and volunteering with Mountain Rescue NC, so we had to hit the hay!
A rundown of our day on Thursday...the day this journey was all about, the day that changed all of us a little bit, and the day that ended with six more dear friends than it started with...will be next!

ReplyDeleteSo cool! I know, at the time, it was a bummer to be caught behind them but it was so cool to be able to witness that!
